Mechanism of Action

SNAP-8 (Acetyl Glutamyl Heptapeptide-3) is an 8-amino acid N-terminal fragment of SNAP-25 with an additional glutamate. It competes with endogenous SNAP-25 for incorporation into the SNARE complex (SNAP-25/synaptobrevin/syntaxin) that drives synaptic vesicle fusion. Reduced SNARE complex efficiency decreases acetylcholine release at neuromuscular junctions in facial muscles, reducing the muscle contractions that deepen expression lines over time.
