Mechanism of Action

KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is the C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). It suppresses pro-inflammatory cytokine production by blocking NF-kB nuclear translocation and inhibiting MAP kinase cascades. It also directly antagonises the NF-kB pathway in intestinal epithelial cells, protecting the mucosal barrier. KPV crosses the blood-brain barrier and has been studied for central anti-inflammatory effects.
