Mechanism of Action

Kisspeptin-10 is the minimum active fragment of kisspeptin, a neuropeptide encoded by the KISS1 gene. It binds GPR54 (Kiss1R) on hypothalamic GnRH neurons with nanomolar affinity, triggering burst GnRH release into the pituitary portal circulation. GnRH activates pituitary gonadotrophs to release LH and FSH pulses, which drive testicular testosterone synthesis (LH) and spermatogenesis (FSH). Kisspeptin neurons in the arcuate nucleus are the endogenous GnRH pulse generators.
