Bacteriostatic water is sterile water for injection containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative. The benzyl alcohol inhibits bacterial growth after vial puncture, allowing the same vial to be accessed multiple times over 28 days without contamination risk. It is the standard reconstitution medium for most lyophilised research peptides.
