Mechanism of Action

Adipotide is a chimeric peptide combining a targeting sequence (CKGGRAKDC) that homes to prohibitin on blood vessel walls within white adipose tissue and a pro-apoptotic D(KLAKLAK)2 sequence. Upon binding to adipose vasculature, it disrupts mitochondrial membranes in endothelial cells, cutting off the blood supply to fat depots and triggering adipocyte death through ischaemia. This targeted vascular pruning mechanism is mechanistically distinct from all other weight management compounds.
